Dr B.R. Ambedkar
Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, India. As the fourteenth child of a military family, he belonged to the Mahar community. Despite his father's service in the army, the social structures of the time labeled his family as 'untouchable,' a designation that would define the challenges of his youth and the mission of his adulthood. From childhood, Babasaheb faced severe discrimination. At school, he was forced to sit on the floor apart from other students and was denied access to common water sources. These early experiences of humiliation fueled his iron will to dismantle the systemic oppression that plagued millions of Indians. Ambedkar realized that education was the most potent weapon for change. Despite social boycotts, he became the first Dalit to complete high school. His brilliance took him across the globe, where he earned multiple doctorates from Columbia University in New York and the London School of Economics. He mastered law, economics, and political science, preparing himself to architect a new era of justice.
