AIM Netherlands is part of a broader Ambedkarite community that spans Europe. Across the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and beyond, Ambedkarite groups keep alive Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of dignity, equality and social justice.

A cross-border European network

The Ambedkarite movement in Europe has grown as the Indian diaspora — and in particular the Dalit and Buddhist diaspora — has become more rooted across the continent. Chapters of Dr Ambedkar International Mission and related community groups exist in several European countries, while informal networks of students, researchers and professionals extend further.

AIM Netherlands connects with this wider European community through joint events, collaborative programmes, cultural exchanges and participation in international gatherings held from time to time in cities such as Paris and across the continent.

Shared values across the diaspora

What unites Ambedkarites across Europe is a commitment to:

  • The core values of liberty, equality and fraternity, rooted in Dr Ambedkar’s writings and the Constitution of India.
  • Solidarity with Dalit, Adivasi and other marginalised communities, both in India and globally.
  • Respectful dialogue with European civil society on questions of caste, equality, Buddhism and constitutional democracy.
  • Cultural continuity — celebrating shared festivals, Buddhist observances and the legacy of Babasaheb Ambedkar in a way that feels meaningful for families living in Europe.

How AIM Netherlands contributes

As the Dutch chapter, AIM Netherlands contributes to the wider European Ambedkarite community in several ways:

  • Hosting and co-organising talks, seminars and Buddhist observances that are open to participants from neighbouring countries.
  • Supporting research and academic exchange with European universities interested in Dr Ambedkar’s work on social reform, law and economics.
  • Sharing learnings, experiences and best practices with other chapters of Dr Ambedkar International Mission worldwide.
